How This Restaurant Created An Intimate Dining Space For Guests | Rumi Restaurant
The Challenge
Rumi in Melbourne’s East Brunswick Village is a casual restaurant specialising in Middle Eastern cuisine. Operating since 2006, the team obtained new premises at the end of 2023 and designed a polished contemporary space for its loyal base of customers. The objective was to continue to deliver the same beloved dishes that had achieved their cult status in a space with greater functionality. Specifically, the owner wanted to create an intimate dining space for private bookings in addition to the main dining room.
The Solution
Portable Partitions Australia, renowned for its innovative design solutions, proposed a unique answer to Rumi’s challenge. They recommended a track-mounted operable wall, custom-designed from floor to ceiling. This solution not only provided a visual and acoustic barrier, creating an intimate and cosy space for private events, but also demonstrated the adaptability and customizability of their products
A laminate woodgrain finish was chosen to blend seamlessly with the other wooden furnishings of the restaurant. The extrusions were powder-coated to match.
